Heidi Diane Hunsaker was born October 30, 2010 at 12:46 PM, weighing 5 lbs 8 oz, and was 18.5 inches long.
Labor was hard, but actually not as hard as I feared it would be! Of course, once they broke my water at 11:15 AM, it only took a couple minutes before I had my first really hard contraction and it was only 1 1/2 hours before she was out. I can't imagine doing that for 36 hours straight like I know some women do.
She is beautiful. She is healthy. She is a LAZY nurser! But, hey, I'm wiped out after a hard day, too, and she went through worse than I did.
I can't believe how we just got to spend time with each other. No one whisked her away. No one was doing a bunch of tests on her. She wasn't hooked up to monitors. She didn't have any tubes attached to her. Her eyes were open already. And best of all, I could hold her as long as I wanted. What a remarkable experience! Is this what it's like for full-term babies? Wow! Matt and I just couldn't get over it.
Anyway, photos coming soon!

WOOHOO - HOORAY - Happy Dance that Heidi is finally here and healthy! Don't worry too much about the lazy nurser - Aliya was too and she figured it out eventually. Besides, if that is your only complaint, that is so awesome! It is so lovely that she is named after her grandma too. Congratulations! Enjoy snuggling with her, you deserve it.
I am SO HAPPY for you and your little family! I'm so glad that everything went well, and that you got to experience the wonderful things that apparently come along with having a healthy baby. AND I'M SO HAPPY THAT YOU GOT TO HAVE A HEALTHY BABY!!
Now I can't wait to see you guys!
It's amazing, isn't it? Heaven must be something like that- holding your baby as long as you want. Such a little peanut but a good size for 37 weeks!
Give her many, many kisses from us and e njoy your "prize."
Congratulations!!! I am just amazed at your journey to a healthy baby and I feel more than a little guilty for taking my healthy pregnancies and deliveries for granted. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
Congratulations!!! We are so happy for all of you. Now you have two miracle babies!
Congratulations! I can't wait to see pictures. So glad that all is well. 1.5 hours is just not bad for an entire labor; of course, you've been doing it for 12 weeks + 1.5 hours, so I guess we have to throw that in when we think you're too speedy. ;)
Congratulations Natalie! I'm so glad everything turned out so well and she got here safe and sound! I can't wait to see some pics of her!
OH NATALIE! SOOOOOOO HAPPY you guys got/get to experience all that comes with a healthy full-term baby! WHAT A BLESSING! I know you guys are just soaking it all in, not taking a moment for granted and rightfully so! SO SO SO HAPPY for you guys again!! Give her time on the nursing, a lot of full term babies are lazy at first. I remember EVERY time my first would latch on, he'd then fall asleep. Spent a lot of time the first few days flicking his little chubby cheeks to wake him up or at least get him to suck. I'm sure its a challenge you are ready to take on after all you've gone through. Relax and enjoy her!
Oh congratulations!!! Can't wait to see photos. I thought about you today. While I was running around like a mad woman trying to get Halloween in order, I thought about how wonderful it would be to be in the hospital with a new little baby instead! :) So very happy for you all!
Congratulations!!!! What an incredible experience to have - and what a little angel she is. Hoping you get to enjoy all the time you want. So excited for all of you!
She looks perfect- congrats!!!
